Spaying and neutering of companion animals is a major goal for the MCHA. Each
year thousands of animals are brought into shelters because of irresponsible pet
owners who do not have their pets spayed or neutered. In 2004, the
City of Bloomington Animal Shelter took in 6,000 animals.
There will never be enough loving homes for all of these animals. Spaying and
neutering is the only way to eliminate the pet overpopulation problem in our
community.
The SNAP program is designed to help address this issue by providing financial
assistance to individuals who may not otherwise be able to afford to sterilize
their animal(s).
