Transient Outreach Program

In partnership with Bloomington Police Department, The Monroe County Humane Association visits various transient-dense facilities and encampments in the area each month. This is part of an effort to provide accessible veterinary wellness care to pets belonging to our transient residents of Monroe County.

Services provided include basic vaccinations for dogs and cats; as well as flea prevention, de-wormer, nail trims, and general exams.

Participating pet-owners must present identification and proof of residency if residing at Kinser Flats or Crawford Apartments.

Otherwise, participants must be truly unhoused to receive access to transient outreach services.

Outreach Day Schedule:

This schedule stays the same every month.

11:00am – Kinser Flats

12:30pm – Shalom Center

2:00pm – Crawford Apartments

To arrange an encampment visit, please contact MCHA by phone, email, or text message to inquire about scheduling an on-site visit

(specific encampment destinations TBD on a month-to-month basis)

On-site visits are not intended for pets with health concerns or that present as sick/injured. If a minor concern presents, and the pet owner is able to find transportation, they may utilize one of the scheduled Walk-in dates to have their pets seen at MCHA’s Animal Care Campus (791 S Fieldstone Blvd, Bloomington, IN, 47403) on the 3rd Friday of each month between the hours of 10:00am and 12:00pm.
