Letter from the Executive Director
At the end of 2014, my only expression was “we survived.” MCHA is a small organization, and without an Executive Director for almost a year, there was plenty of work to be done when I was brought in on May 5, 2014. Prior to my work here, there was a staff of two that worked diligently to keep our programs operational for a community that needed them (by an increase of more than 20%). Working with just a staff of two, there was a Board of Directors that worked tirelessly to keep an organization that they believed in working towards the future. Even then, there was a small, yet mighty team always believing there was so much more work to be done in the community, and that MCHA would be the organization that could lead the charge in furthering animal welfare. By the end of 2014, we had taken a full evaluation of ourselves and are ready to build and grow in 2015. I have to say that I am so excited for the year that 2015 has the potential to be for MCHA. I also have to say that I am so grateful to the staff and the Board of Directors that believed in this organization even before my time here. They believed that the work before us this year, was always possible. And now, my only expression is “let’s get started.”
