V.I.Paws is a program of the Monroe County Humane Association in an effort to share the support and success of the human-animal bond by sharing animal related therapies in local communities. V.I.Paws therapy teams consists of trained, evaluated and registered handler and animal teams volunteering in the community doing casual meet and greets. V.I.Paws teams can also include goal-directed and designed interactions to promote improvement in a client's physical, mental, emotional, social, or cognitive functioning. V.I.Paws therapy teams visit nursing homes, health care facilities, libraries, schools, camps, community events, and more to share the physical and emotional benefits of human-animal interactions.
Approval from the V.I.Paws Coordinator is required before establishing a new location for visiting. All new community partners must read, complete, and submit a Facility Contact Form to the V.I.Paws Coordinator before V.I.Paws teams are allowed to visit.
