These classes are for handler and dogs with a solid foundation of basic obedience preparing for VIPaws Team Evaluations and team registration. Classes will emphasize the expectations of animal assisted therapy dog teams, practice obedience, social skills and prepare for real-world animal assisted therapy situations. Each session costs $10. (No Refunds available, but class credit can be arranged.)

  • Requirements: Handler must be at least 18yrs of age or with an adult to attend class.
    Dogs must be at least 6 months old, healthy, vaccinated, and must have a solid understanding of basic obedience. A basic obedience class is highly encouraged before attending therapy classes. Dogs must be fully house broken and allowed to eliminate before entering the training room. Handler is responsible for dog at all times and should be prepared for class with the following items, if needed: dog's vaccination records, water bottle, water bowl, small dog treats, dog waste bags, and any other items needed for training such as a clicker, gentle leader, or harness. Choke collars, prong collars, shock collars, and retractable leashes are NOT permitted in classes. Class may meet in and outdoors.

    There are no refunds available. If you sign up for a class but cannot attend or class is canceled, email sgroschwitz@monroehumane.org and credit can be arranged towards another class.
