A Bench for Caps

You can help MCHA build A Bench for Caps

for the Animal Care Campus!

 

What is it?

A Bench for Caps is designed by children for children and is a teaching tool for lifetime habits of green living. This Bench for Caps project is driven by the Monroe County Humane Association’s Animal Advocates Club. This club offers kids ages 10-14 a unique opportunity to be up close and personal with animals of all shapes and sizes, while learning how to be compassionate, caring and thoughtful.

What Types of Caps

Small caps from food grade containers, household items.

  • Snap on: butter tub, coffee can, yogurt lids

  • Small twist on: medicine, drink bottle, milk caps

  • Large twist on: detergent caps

  • Spout: squirt condiment caps

  • Flip top: ketchup caps

Acceptable Caps and Lids

Recycle # 2, 4, or 5

  • medicine bottle CAPS/info packet removed

  • milk jug caps

  • detergent caps

  • hair spray caps

  • toothpaste caps

  • deodorant caps

  • apple sauce pouch caps

  • drink bottle caps

  • soda, water, juice, sport drinks

  • ip-top caps (ketchup)

  • spout caps (mustard)

  • spray paint caps

  • ointment tube caps

  • baby food caps

  • shampoo/conditioner caps

  • cottage cheese container lids

  • mayonnaise jar lids

  • yogurt lids

  • peanut butter jar lids

  • ice cream bucket lids under 8”

  • cool whip container lids

  • coffee can lids

  • cream cheese container lids

  • butter container lids

  • Pringles lids

Not Acceptable Caps

  • Any cap with metal

  • Pumps with metal spring inside - as on lotions

  • Fast-food drink caps

  • No lid or cap over 8” in diameter

  • Medical supplies
