Volunteer Program Opportunities

Please review the positions below and check those of interest.
General Volunteers are needed for a variety of projects and initiatives throughout the year. The MCHA will e-mail our general volunteers when needs arise.
Special Events volunteers work at our many special events from Walk for the Animals to our Pet Food and Supply Drive. You will be contacted prior to a special event and if you are available and commit to work the event, we ask that you fulfill that commitment. There is no minimum age but a parent/guardian must be present with those under 16 yrs.
Very Important Paws is a visiting pet partners program. Join the VIPaws team with your animals. Volunteers must take the Delta Society Pet Partners® class through the MCHA and your animal must pass the Delta Society Pet Partners® evaluation to be certified. Then take your pet to visit nursing homes, hospitals and other locations and share the health benefits of having an animal!
Humane Education volunteers must be able to make a one year time commitment and have a flexible schedule. Qualifications include experience in the field of education.
Marketing/Promotions volunteers may work one or more hours per week posting shelter adoptable pet flyers, promotional flyers for special events, and other marketing activities.
Internships - available in collaboration with Indiana University and Ivy Tech. Internships require at least a semester commitment. Internships available include marketing, non-profit program management, graphic design and project research.
MCHA Committee volunteers may participate in Marketing, Special Events, Development, and Finance committees. Experience in these areas required.
