Millions of animals are taken to shelters every year. Although many of these animals
meet a grim fate because of the lack of adoptive families and overpopulation,
thousands of excited owners adopt pets each year. The joy an animal companion can
bring into one's home is immeasurable. Their unique personalities, quirky habits and
unconditional love have brought happiness to countless pet owners.
Every success story that results from an adoption breathes more life and compassion
into the community - and gives a homeless animal a nurturing home. If you have a
success story about an adoption or rescue, please add it here. Spread the message that
loving, homeless animals are waiting to become "success stories" of their own.
Kindred Spirits is a new radio program being developed about the
human-animal bond. Find out more about this show and learn how you
can share your success story on the air.

Panzer |
 |
I saw Panzer's picture at the pet food store, and wasn't planning on getting another dog. However, Panzer's picture led me to the Humane Society to take a look. Soon after, he was in the car with me...to his new home. I live on a horse farm, and have 2 other dogs. He is a great friend, and is spoiled rotten, taking over the entire couch!... [more] |

Wayne |
 |
Wayne was just a kitten when we got him. He, and his sister Lilly, were adorable. We cuddled them, and fed them well. Today, Wayne is a fat, lazy, hilarious inside cat, spoiled rotten. I could never ask for a better cat.... [more] |

Patrick |
 |
I got Patrick because I had lost my beloved Pekingese of 11 years. I wasn't sure if I could ever love a pet as much as I did Gizmo but Patrick stole our hearts the day I brought him home. He is so eager to please and lives to play fetch. Patrick is full of so much love for everyone. I know he will touch our hearts forever.... [more] |

Skippy |
 |
I never could of imagined how great Skippy would be when I decided to adopt him. He has become my shadow and been the most well behaved and relaxed dog I have ever met. He likes to sleep in his new blue dog bed and loves taking walks through Dunn Meadows. I am very lucky to found such a great dog and it is very easy to see how much Skippy loves me and he knows how much he is loved as well.... [more] |

Kirbie |
 |
Kirbie came to my home when the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter called to say they had a kitten that had burns on his back and thought to be deaf. Today, he is a healthy, loving cat and one that is appreciated more each day. Although, and thankfully not deaf, he is partially blind in one eye as he has one blue and one green eye, which is subject to all white cats with those characteristics.
Kirbie has joined a family of four other cat... [more] |
