Millions of animals are taken to shelters every year. Although many of these animals
meet a grim fate because of the lack of adoptive families and overpopulation,
thousands of excited owners adopt pets each year. The joy an animal companion can
bring into one's home is immeasurable. Their unique personalities, quirky habits and
unconditional love have brought happiness to countless pet owners.
Every success story that results from an adoption breathes more life and compassion
into the community - and gives a homeless animal a nurturing home. If you have a
success story about an adoption or rescue, please add it here. Spread the message that
loving, homeless animals are waiting to become "success stories" of their own.
Kindred Spirits is a new radio program being developed about the
human-animal bond. Find out more about this show and learn how you
can share your success story on the air.

Samson |
 |
Samson is my first bunny. I have 5 cats and 6 rats and now my bun. All but 4 (2 rats, 2 cats)are rescues. Samson loves his brother Little (my youngest cat). They spend most of the morning running through the house and Samson dives under our bed. Samson's favorite activity is eating his greens in the living room and then flopping over and taking a nap. He is a real joy to be around. His binkies are so funny! Thank you so much for calling me and le... [more] |

Kaiya |

This is Kaiya... the wonderful dog that gave me a new meaning in life. I have always been an animal lover and last summer I decided to adopt a dog. I knew I wanted to adopt one from the shelter, so I went to see what they had. I didn't see one that was there that I felt strongly about, but as I was walking out I saw this cute face on the foster list adoptable board and it made me stop. Well needless to say I took her home with me the next day and... [more] |

Captain Keys |
 |
I adopted Keys (Captain Keys to all you land-lubbers), last summer. I went to the shelter to see if I would find my future roommate; when I opened the cage of a cat named 'Sidney,' he put his paws on my shoulders and wagged his tail. This was the cat for me.
A year and a name later, I have not regretted my decision. Keys is a very social and cuddly cat; he loves hanging out on my friend's laps (especially my female friends). I am ver... [more] |

Sophie |
 |
This is a true happy ending story. Sophie was given up by her owner at the young age of 10 months. Her owner could no longer keep her. Sophie spent 3 months at the shelter and still had not found a home. One day an e-mail was sent out listing several dogs that were close to the end due to space at the shelter.
I decided to foster one of the dogs and ended up with Sophie. After having her home for a few days, I knew she had to stay wi... [more] |

Sam |
 |
So this is Sam. The dog that changed everthing. I have always been a huge animal lover, especially dogs. In July of 2003, I decide it was time that I get a dog.
From the moment I brought him home we have been inseperable. Sam knows me so well and is such a great companion. I can't imagine my life without him.
Because of my experience of adopting him and all that he has brought to my life, I started volunteering for the MCHA. It i... [more] |
