Millions of animals are taken to shelters every year. Although many of these animals
meet a grim fate because of the lack of adoptive families and overpopulation,
thousands of excited owners adopt pets each year. The joy an animal companion can
bring into one's home is immeasurable. Their unique personalities, quirky habits and
unconditional love have brought happiness to countless pet owners.
Every success story that results from an adoption breathes more life and compassion
into the community - and gives a homeless animal a nurturing home. If you have a
success story about an adoption or rescue, please add it here. Spread the message that
loving, homeless animals are waiting to become "success stories" of their own.
Kindred Spirits is a new radio program being developed about the
human-animal bond. Find out more about this show and learn how you
can share your success story on the air.

Annie was 8 years old and very depressed when her family left her at the animal shelter. After one failed adoption, it was obvious she needed a patient Mom. She spent the first 3 days under my bed. Then she ascended her throne (the ottoman) and was transformed into Princess Annie. She rules the house now and holds my heart in her fuzzy snowshoe paws. ... [more] |

Bruster |
 |
Within 2 hours of arriving, Bruster (aka "Martin") was clearly at home. He has become fast friends with Gilligan our bulldog. We had been very concerned that our tiger cat, Mokie, would not adjust easily to a new addition to our household but Bruster's easy going nature made it easy for her to accept him. Thanks to the staff member who recommended this great guy for our unique blend of personalities!... [more] |

You could te... [more] |

Reese |
 |
On a random visit to the shelter my granddaughters and I met Reese. 11 months old, he was a huge ball of energy and magnetism. As young as he was, he had an insight and wisdom in those big brown eyes that stole my heart. He knew from the moment he laid eyes on me, he had me! Needless to say he has become a member of the family, just like all the others have in the past. We have lost wonderful 4-legged family to heartbreaking circumstance, and kno... [more] |
