INDIANA ACTION ALERT: HB1468 Puppy Mills and Animal Cruelty Bill

February 19, 2009-

Today the Indiana House of Representatives stood strong against animal abuse and puppy mills by passing HB1468 with a 81 - 14 vote. The bill will now head to a senate committee hearing to be voted upon and, if approved, will then move to the full Indiana Senate for a vote.

February 12, 2009 - House Bill 1468 passed through committee yesterday and will be up for a vote in the Indiana House of Representatives next week. HB1468 will improve the currently weak animal cruelty code and crack down on inhumane puppy mills in Indiana.

Please reach out to your legislators and let them know you would like them to support HB1468. You can look-up your house representative here.

This is one step in the process to getting this legislation passed. The House will vote next week and then the same process will need to happen for the Senate side to get the bill to the Governor's desk and signed into law.

The bill will NOT affect reputable breeders or agriculture in Indiana. Be polite and straight forward. Cruelty to animals in Indiana must not go unchecked, including the thousands of dogs suffering in Indiana puppy mills each day.
