Meet the MCHA Staff

Sarah J. Hayes - Chief Executive Officer

Sarah joins us as the second CEO of the MCHA. Previous to her role with the MCHA, Sarah worked for the Indiana University Foundation for approximately 5 years in various roles.  Before moving to Bloomington, she attended Columbia College in Chicago, but originally hails from suburban Detroit.

Sarah is a long time animal advocate believing that how we treat those without the ability to speak for themselves is truly a measure of our society. She feels very fortunate to be working in a community that has a strong base of individuals who truly care about the welfare of animals helping Bloomington become an example of a humane community.

Sarah is a member of the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators www.sawanetwork.org, member of the Monroe County Animal Management Commission,  Board Member of the National Federation of Humane Societies www.humanefederation.org/ , Non-profit Alliance of Monroe County www.bloomington.in.us/~npa/  and the Indiana Alliance of Animal Control and Welfare Organizations. Sarah has also been a featured speaker for PetSmart Charities and the Humane Strategies Rescue Waggin Conference for the east coast and mid-west regions.

Sarah DeLone - Education Program Director

Sarah joined the MCHA team in February of 2001, first as Director of our Wildlife Program, which merged with our education program in the spring of 2002.
A Bloomington native, Sarah brings both experience and enthusiasm to her job. Sarah has degrees in zoo keeping, outdoor recreation/resource management and outdoor teacher education. For six years, she worked at St. Louis' World Bird Sanctuary, where she supervised educational programs that featured live birds of prey, and helped with the rehabilitation and captive breeding programs.
Sarah works with a variety of MCHA "animal ambassadors," including Journey, her therapy dog, a red-tailed hawk, great horned owl, cockatoo, royal python, rabbit, and a ferret to help educate the public about many different humane issues. Our Education Program reaches thousands of children and adults each year through presentations to classrooms, organizations and special events.

Tricia Dishman - Office Manager
Tricia joined the MCHA staff during her search to create balance in her life by returning to the workforce after taking some time off to raise her four children.

She is no stranger to the world of non-profit; her previous non-profit experience has given her a true appreciation for the commitment and support of the community on every level.

Tricia is a life-long resident of Monroe County and enjoys spending time with her children Katie, Adam, Gracie, and Buck and their two cats Todd and Weezer. In her spare time, you can find Tricia hiking, gardening and reading her favorite books.
